Why do I need a lawyer for a real estate closing?
A lawyer ensures the transaction is legally sound, conducts title searches to check for liens or issues, reviews all documents, and facilitates the transfer of funds and ownership. This protects you from potential future legal and financial problems.
What is the monetary limit for Small Claims Court in Ontario?
As of now, the monetary limit for claims in the Ontario Small Claims Court is $35,000, not including interest and costs.
Billing & Fees
Do you offer flat-fee services?
Yes. We offer flat-fee and staged-fee packages for many of our services, especially for predictable matters like real estate closings, incorporations, and certain LTB applications. This provides you with cost certainty from the outset.
What is a retainer?
A retainer is a sum of money paid upfront before legal work begins. These funds are held in a separate trust account and are used to pay for legal fees and disbursements as they are incurred. It is essentially a deposit for your legal services.
